Five Cities to Add to Your Bucket List

When you live in a Revel community, you’ll finally have the time to focus on the things you love to do. According to AARP, travel tops the bucket lists of those 50 and older. Beyond going to a place you’ve always wanted to visit, travel can offer you amazing health benefits such as improved mental health and a lower risk of heart disease. Now there is only one question remaining: where will you go first? Here are five of our favorites that deserve a place on your bucket list.

Paso Robles, California
California wine country will always be breathtaking, but well-traveled destinations like Napa and Sonoma are often swallowed by crowds. Instead of following the tourists, head down to Paso Robles, located on California’s central coast only a few hours away from Los Angeles. Here you can immerse yourself in the relaxed vibes of wine country without the crowds and price tags of the more popular destinations. There are more than 200 wineries in this city, and if you take your trip during the winter months, rates begin at around $70 a night!

Mexico City
If you have been aching to get out of the country, visiting Mexico’s capital is a great place to start! Often, flights to Mexico City are under $400 round-trip from most major U.S. cities, which means you’ll have more money to splurge on the delicious food and art you’ll find here. Don’t miss a visit to the world-renowned museums that fill this city, including the Museo Frida Kahlo, Museo Nacional de Anthropologia, and the Museo de Arte Popular.

Krakow, Poland
Less well-known than the capital city of Warsaw, Krakow is the type of European city dreams are made of. The streets are quaint and full of history since the town center (one of the most expansive in Europe) is so well preserved. This is the place to visit if you are looking for a more mellow trip where you can meander through these city streets, stopping into cafes and sampling some remarkable Polish delicacies. Once you start sampling the handmade pierogis, you won’t be able to stop.

Sedona, Arizona
Visiting this scenic destination surrounded by dramatic red-rock mountains will fill you with inspiration. As opposed to the intense heat of Phoenix or Tucson, Sedona is known for a milder climate, which makes taking time for outdoor activities a lot more pleasant. Spend the early hours of the morning bird watching and walking through the red rocks before heading to one of the many local art museums, spas, or New Age shops.

Key West, Florida
If you can’t decide between a slower-paced or adventurous vacation, we suggest a trip to Key West, Florida, where you can find plenty of both. Head to the beach for a sailing lesson or spend the day reading in the sand and enjoying one of the most incredible sunsets that the United States has to offer. Right in the center of Old Town Key West, you can explore the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum. While you’re there, keep your eyes peeled for the famous Hemingway housecats known for their six toes! There are 40-50 cats that call this place home.
